Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"All dishes were so so good, sedap sangat sangat. We kept coming back countless times in just less than a year And we often order full course, can never walk away from just ordering main meals, really. So tempted to have it all. Please have some kind of discount or membership for people like us Wat Tan Hor were the best. This is my third time ordering it. I cannot move on Banana fritter were very crunchy and combination with ice cream was out of this world. Singapore Laksa Lemak, broth were thick and cukup rasa. Marmite chicken, nobody can nail it like them. Tauhu sumbat was a little surprise for me (because of presentation different from back home ) but the taste even when i have it the next day, were still good. No need to reheat with the cucumber there obviously. Cendol, i ordered with red bean asing because the combo isnt a thing for me. Cendol was so thick with coconut milk (in a good way) and melts in your mouth Beware, you will be very very full after eating dishes here so maybe can consider walk home instead of taking the bus Also, best to dine-in for portions and freshness. Can just take away later if you cant finish it. Extra charge of €0.20 for the boxes though, just fyi. Oh and of course, best part is, this Malaysian restaurant is a fully halal one. It serves alcohol yes but the glass were different sets from the non-alcohol menu"
"Was excited to find this gem in the heart of Dublin! I wasn't able to dine in, but I picked up my order and got a brief look at the restaurant. Let’s start with the food. I ordered some basics: 1. Nasi Lemak - The rice was fragrant without being overly coconut-y. The sambal, with big slices of cooked onion, leaned sweet, ikan bilis/peanuts and the rendang sauce paired perfectly with the dish. The fried chicken drumstick was juicy and fried to perfection! 2. Char Kuay Teow - Hmm… it lacked that essential “wok hei” (IYKYK). That said, the shrimp and squid were huge and generously served. And the winner of the night… *drum roll…* 1. Fook Kian Chow (Hokkien Mee) - This was my first time having such authentic Hokkien Mee outside of Malaysia. I’ve tried many Malaysian restaurants in the States, and so far, all were disappointing. But THIS! They had the fried chicken skin pieces (instead of the traditional usual pork lard) on top— that works! So it’s def HALAL and pork free! The noodles were cooked perfectly in the rich, dark brown sauce, and they were very generous with the shrimp and sotong (squid). Owner/Staff: Legit Malaysians who made me feel right at home with their language, smiles, and of course, the food. I highly recommend this place to everyone."
"Kopitiam is a lovely spot for authentic Malaysian street food right in Dublin. From the moment you walk in, the place feels warm and welcoming, with a cosy atmosphere and colourful décor that reflects its Malaysian roots. It’s especially inviting in the evening and has a relaxed, neighbourhood café vibe. The food is the real highlight. The menu offers a great range of Malaysian dishes, with rich flavours, generous portions, and clearly a lot of care put into the cooking. Everything tastes fresh and well-seasoned, and it’s a great place to try classic Malaysian comfort food if you’re not already familiar with the cuisine. Service is friendly and attentive without being rushed, and staff are happy to explain dishes or make recommendations. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, making it good value for money. Overall, Kopitiam is a great choice for anyone looking for something a bit different in Dublin, whether you’re already a fan of Malaysian food or trying it for the first time. Definitely worth a visit."
"I would’ve rated this restaurant 5-star a year ago. It used to be my go to asian place whenever I’m around the area. But this time around I was left with mixed feelings. Maybe it’s just that day. The taste didn’t reach of what I would call satisfactory level. Rendang would be my go to dish but ohwell. Should be on the lookout for something else next time"
"Fast as lightening food servings and gosh it's good. We had Nasi Lemak with veggies and beef randang plus a kueh dadar. Amazing! Only issue if any: The room was icy cold at lunch time. Still loved our lunch, would go again and again!"
"Wow, large portions and incredible taste. Friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating for customisation. Highly recommend their mee goreng and singapore laksa is too die for"
"If you’re looking for the most authentic Malaysian food in Dublin, this is it. The Nasi Goreng Kampong is a masterclass in balance—it has the perfect kick without being overwhelming. It feels like a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur right in the heart of D1."
"I was looking for good and authentic nasi goreng and I got it here. I would give this dish a solid 5 stars. The roti was great but the sauce was not outstanding. The nasi lemak was average though the rice was slightly better than other places ( too much cooking and too smushy). The desert was great. Overall, this kitchen is better and more authentic than others in town."
